The first stop on our journey was Windsor Castle. This is one of the three official residences of the reigning king or queen. The others are Buckingham Palace and a palace in Scotland, which name I cannot remember. It was a little frustrating that we could not take pictures inside the castle.
The dining room was in a bit of disarray, as Prince Andrew had just had a dinner for 200 people the night before.
The castle is located just steps away from a little town. My guess is that the town was built along the way as the castle became more popular with tourists. There is every manner of food, drink, and shopping to be had. You actually walk through a shopping mall to get to the castle entrance. Before the entrance you go through security, simular to an airport. Your purses and backpacks go through an x-ray machine and people walk through the upright scanners.
After touring the castle, we needed to grab a bite to eat before getting back on iur bus. We were told to be back at a certain time, and this was only about 20 minutes away. We noticed a McDonald's, and figuring it would be quick, and most likely less expensive, we decided that was probably our best choice. The McDonald's here has something we do not. It is called the BCO, which is a burger with bacon and an onion dressing. Doug ordered that and thought it was very tasty. Josh got his standard 3 plain cheeseburgers and Zack a chicken wrap. Filet O Fish was my meal of choice. With drinks and fries, lunch was only £20, a welcome change from the costs of other meals.
We made it back to the bus on time and then it was off to the ancient Roman city of Bath.
