We got to our hotel about 8:30 am and checked in. Since it was so early, our rooms were not ready. (We will be having 2 rooms at all our hotels while in Europe. It seems no one travels with families here, as all rooms have either 2 twin beds or a king bed, and there doesn't seem to be room for a roll away bed either). We inquired about having breakfast in the hotel and were directed to Brasewells, the breakfast restaurant. The menu looked promising, so we asked for a table for 4, and were soon sipping juice while deciding what to order. Zack was STARVING, so he wanted the buffet. Since it was £25, he grudgingly agreed to order the waffles, but insisted it would not be enough food. The waitress heard him say that, so she allowed him to get a complimentary bowl of cereal from the buffet. Josh ordered the American Pancakes and Doug ordered a traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, hash browns, and toast with honey. Tracie ordered the waffles pictured here.
Josh said the pancakes were awesome! Doug found his breakfast quite tasty, although it looked very unappealing to me. The eggs were a strange color and texture and where served in a cylinder shape, as if they had been cooked in a glass and then turned over onto the plate. They reminded me of when the Duggars (of tv's 19 Kids and Counting) visited the ostrich farm and were given some eggs to take home. The mom scrambled and cooked them, and they ended up looking like these.
The waffles had the opposite problem. They looked amazing, topped with fresh strawberries and bananas and served with fresh cream. However, they were very sweet and had chunks of sugar in them. It seems as if the sugar mixed with the wet ingredients, but formed hard balls of sugar, and the cook did not realize this. So every bite was met with a crunch.
