Before we got to Leeds Castle, Monika announced that there is a little restaurant in Canterbury that she likes to take her tour groups to. It was not included in the price of the tour, but was an economical option and they had good, homestyle food. It was a clean place, but not fancy. They had 4 options available: Fish N Chips, Chicken N Chips, Meat Pie, and a vegetarian dish. She would be coming around and seeing who was interested and taking their orders, so she could call ahead from Leeds Castle and it would be ready when we arrived, thus not taking too much time away from our touring time.
We decided to give it a try. We ordered chicken n chips for the boys and Doug, and I decided to try the meat pie. Upon arriving in Canterbury, Monika directed those of us who had ordered lunch to the restaurant and then took the rest of the group to Canterbury Cathedral to get their tickets. She would return later with ours.
What awaited us was fantastic! There was a slight concern at first, as the Chicken N Chips was not a batter fried boneless chicken breast as we had thought it would be, but a roasted quarter chicken. Luckily they brought one dark quarter and two light, so after we got the right one to the right boy, and I deboned and cut it up, they were happy as clams.
The meat pie was divine! It was basically pot roast in phyllo dough, served with cabbage, roasted potatoes, and carrots. So yummy!
After our great meal we toured Canterbury Cathedral.
