Bopard is a little town on the banks of the river Rhein. It had lots of cute shops and restaurants. We stopped there for about an hour to explore and rest. We wandered around and found a produce seller. He had the most amazing smelling strawberries for sale. We bought a box and nibbled on them as we strolled.
After a while we got on a river boat and had a cruise up the river Rhein to St. Goar. Along the way we saw many castles. The end of our cruise was at the famous Loreley Rock. Legend has it that a mermaid sat atop the rock combing her long beautiful hair. The sailors would be mesmerized by her songs and crash their boats against the rocks. It has been said the song was actually the wind whistling through the river canyon, changing sound as it turned the corner.
While on the boat we had a delicious dinner. I had wiener schnitzel. Yummy! The boys had chicken nuggets (yay for chicken nuggets!) and Doug had bratwurst. We exitied the boat at St Goar and made our way back to the bus to head to Heidelberg.
