We met the tour bus out front of our hotel and it took us to the Victoria Coach Station. I had looked this station up online and was quite scared by the reviews. They made it sound like a congested, confusing place and that we would be lucky to find our bus. Well, we easily found the correct gate and waited for our tour to be called. Victoria Coach Station is quite the place. There must have been 50 tour busses lined up 5 deep to be loaded and take their patrons all around England. Soon a gentleman came to the front of our gate and announce that he would begin boarding busses for tour #21, our tour. There were four coaches going today, so do not worry if you do not get on this bus, he said. Sure enough, we did not make the cut. Soon a grandmotherly lady came to the gate and announced that she would be loading the next bus. She was a typical English lady, with medium lenght dark hair and a beret. She reminded me a bit of my grandma, who used to be a bus tour guide. Then the strangest thing happened. She announced that if you don't understand the next thing she says, then you are to just stay where you are... then she started speaking in Japanese! She gathered a group of Japanese tourists and brought them out to the bus. Soon she was back and announced that she would take more people for tour #21. This bus we got on. After everyone was seated, she introduced herself and told us that she would be conducting the tour first in English and then in Japanese. We wouldn't miss anything she promised... we wouldn't get only half the information, she would be working twice as hard. Leo our bus driver maneuvered the bus out onto the city street and then were were off. First stop... Windsor Castle.
